Progressive Hospital located near Cleveland Ohio is currently recruiting for a full-time Pharmacy Manager, Investigational Drug Services.  This is a tremendous opportunity for the right candidate. The Manager of the Investigational Drug Service (IDS) is responsible for planning, monitoring, and directly supervising pharmacy personal in the safe and effective use of investigational drugs and protocols approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The Manager will work closely with all research stakeholders to ensure that a maximum level of service, safety, and regulatory compliance is achieved. 
Leadership Responsibilities

-Inform investigators and sponsors of departmental investigational drug policies and procedures 
-Review study protocols for potential pharmacy involvement and requirements for drug storage, distribution, and administration 
-Provide IDS pricing for IDS services for inclusion in the study budget negotiations 
-Prepare the Pharmacy Protocol Summary and Drug Information Summary for each investigational study 
-Calculate Pharmacy Services charges and bill each investigational study, as appropriate 
-Conduct periodic review/update of departmental investigational drug policies, procedures, and job descriptions 
-Represent the Department of Pharmacy Services on designated research related committees and serve as the primary pharmacy liaison to the  Clinical Research Center 
-Effectively manage resources and staff of the Investigational Drug Service 
Clinical Responsibilities

-Provide clinical pharmacy services to investigators in support of investigational studies 
-Assist in the preparation and review of drug study protocols for submission to grant or contract agencies and/or research stakeholders as needed 
-Assist in the communication between investigator and clinical staff to help insure adherence to protocol and/or policy 
-Assist investigators in determining Pharmacy Services costs associated with each protocol 
-Participate/coordinate drug monitor visits/reviews 
Educational Responsibilities

-Provide pharmacy staff with summary data for each study regarding pharmacology, storage, dosage, adverse effects, compounding procedures, and other information related to investigational drugs 
-Provide clinical staff with drug information regarding investigational drugs 
-Provide periodic updates to staff as required or when changes are made in protocols 
Distribution Responsibilities 

-Insure proper storage and accounting of study agents 
-Ensure safe and proper compounding and dispensing of all investigational drugs 
-Shipping and disposition of investigational drugs to outside providers and/or sites participating in protocols 
-Maintain adequate inventory levels of all investigational drugs and their associated records 
-Develop and report Quality Assurance metrics


BS of Pharmacy or Pharm. D degree required 
Required License and/or Certifications

Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Ohio. (R.Ph.) required 
Completion of pharmacy residency preferred 
Board Certification preferred 

Experience & Knowledge

Minimum of 3 years experience in institutional pharmacy practice. 
Preferred experience

Experience in Investigational Drug service with emphasis on managing the complexity of Investigational Drug Protocols.
